Description

The AGM Taipan TM15-384 is a universal monocular thermal imaging device from a special market segment. The Taipan series is designed for users who want higher quality than the entry-level but at the same time don't want to spend an extreme amount of money. The thermal imaging optics have a 384x288 detector (12μm), a 15mm lens and a large field of view of 17.5 degrees. This makes the Taipan TM15-384 suitable for general observations at short and medium distances.

Internal Features

The device has a refresh rate of 50 Hz and thus provides images in real time. This means you can track moving targets without lag. The thermal image is projected onto a color display with 1280 x 960 pixels. The optics have an optical 1.5x magnification and a digital zoom of 2x, 4x and 8x. Its maximum total zoom is therefore 12x.

Thermal Imaging Range

The camera can detect objects up to a distance of 708 m. This is the distance at which you see "something" and should not be confused with detection distance (e.g. only detection lets you tell if the person you are seeing is male or female). The field of view is 17.5 by 13.1 degrees. Thanks to the automatic focus, you don't have to keep focusing manually all the time.

Useful Functions

You can display the surroundings in four color palettes according to your preference: white hot, black hot, red hot and fusion (aka rainbow). The thermal imaging camera also has a so-called hot track function, which allows you to "localize" animals/people with cursors immediately. You can also use the "distance measurement" function to measure the approximate distance to people, objects or animals. You can also adjust the contrast and brightness in five levels.

Record, Share and Live Stream

With the Taipan you can take endless recordings. Your photos and videos are automatically stored on the internal 8 GB memory. You can easily transfer your recordings to your smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc. via a Wi-Fi connection or via the included USB-C cable. You can also stream images live to your smartphone or tablet. For this you need the free T-Vision app, which is available for iOS https://apps.apple.com/us/app/t-vision/id1478705944 and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id =com.guardExpert.commercialvisionGoogle&hl=nl&gl=US is available for Android. This allows you to control the thermal imaging camera remotely and also take pictures. The connection is via Wi-Fi.

Physical Characteristics

Thanks to the IP67 certification, you can use the device in many (weather) conditions. This makes the camera waterproof, dustproof and capable of withstanding a 1.5m drop onto concrete. Even at extreme temperatures (-20°C to +55°C) you can use the camera without any problems. The AGM Taipan is equipped with an internal Li-Ion battery that allows an operating time of up to 7.5 hours. A stand-by mode is also available to further increase uptime.
