20.18 megapixels and highly sensitive Sony IMX183 sensor

The ZWO ASI 183MC Pro is a powerful cooled color astronomy camera for demanding deep-sky, lunar and planetary imaging. The Sony IMX183 CMOS sensor offers 20.18 megapixels, a resolution of 5496 × 3672 pixels and particularly small 2.4 µm pixels. The back-illuminated BSI technology provides high light sensitivity and excellent utilization of the light collected by the telescope.

Active cooling for low-noise deep-sky imaging

For high-quality long-exposure imaging, the ASI 183MC Pro features a 2-stage Peltier cooling system. The sensor can be cooled by up to 45 °C below the ambient temperature. This reduces thermal noise and improves image quality when capturing faint nebulae and galaxies.

An integrated DDR3 buffer memory ensures reliable data transfer via USB and also helps reduce amp glow. The robust Pro-series housing is designed for reliable operation even in high-humidity environments.

High speed for lunar and planetary imaging

In addition to deep-sky astrophotography, the camera is also well suited for lunar and planetary imaging thanks to its high readout speed. At reduced resolution, frame rates of up to 117.3 frames per second are possible via USB 3.0. This makes the ASI 183MC Pro ideal for Lucky Imaging and precise real-time focusing.

The camera is powered by a separate 12 V power supply. For operation of the active cooling system, 12 V at 3–5 A DC with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm connector and center-positive polarity is recommended.
