Description

The SiOnyx lens protection is an accessory that allows you to protect the lens of your SiOnyx color night vision device from scratches and bumps. This lens does not affect the light output of your night vision device. The protective screen is custom-made and is compatible with the entire SiOnyx Aurora series (Aurora SPORT, BLACK, STANDARD/CLASSIC, PRO and PRO EXPLORER).

The case is made from 3D printed plastic and has a knurled outer edge for a high level of grip (useful when wearing gloves). There is a Velcro fastener on the inside. So you can safely put the protective screen over the lens of your SiOnyx night vision device. The lens itself is made of plexiglass and is only 4mm thick. The protection weighs less than 25 grams.

Impact test

The plexiglass is strong enough to withstand multiple impacts from airsoft bullets at a speed of approximately 90 meters per second (approx. 1 joule ) to withstand. This test used 0.20 gram type BB airsoft bullets. In practice this means that the lens protects against most airsoft/paintball impacts. According to the tests, the Plexiglas no longer offers any protection if you use 0.45 gram BB balls (130m/s) or heavier.
