Highly Sensitive Autoguider with Sony IMX174
The ZWO ASI174MM Mini is a particularly versatile monochrome camera for autoguiding and astrophotography. Its large and highly sensitive Sony IMX174 sensor offers a quantum efficiency of up to 77% and pronounced infrared sensitivity. This makes it possible to reliably find suitable guide stars even under challenging conditions.
With its compact housing and a weight of only 60 g, the ASI174MM Mini is ideal for use with an off-axis guider or guide scope. The integrated ST-4 port enables direct connection to a compatible telescope mount.
Large Sensor for Precise Autoguiding
The Sony IMX174 CMOS sensor features 1936 × 1216 pixels with a pixel size of 5.86 µm. The large sensor area of 11.34 × 7.13 mm makes it easier to locate guide stars and provides a generous field of view.
Thanks to its short back focus of only 8.5 mm, the camera can also be used in challenging focusing configurations. This is particularly useful with Newtonian telescopes whose optical design was not originally optimized for astrophotography.
Planetary Camera for Lucky Imaging
The ASI174MM Mini is not only a powerful autoguider, but also an interesting camera for lunar and planetary astrophotography. Fast image acquisition enables short video sequences from which the sharpest individual frames can be selected and combined using stacking to create detailed images.
Also Suitable for Deep-Sky Astrophotography
The combination of a large sensor area, 5.86 µm pixels and high light sensitivity makes the camera a true all-rounder for astrophotography. Faint nebulae and other deep-sky objects can also be captured photographically with the ASI174MM Mini.
The low-noise CMOS sensor enables good results even though the compact camera does not feature active cooling.
Infrared Sensitive Thanks to Clear Glass Filter
The ZWO ASI174MM Mini is equipped with a clear glass filter and therefore remains sensitive to infrared light. In combination with a suitable IR-pass filter, this opens up interesting possibilities for planetary astrophotography.
When used with a refractor telescope, however, an IR-cut filter is recommended, as refractor optics are generally optimized for the visible light spectrum.
The Versatile All-Rounder for Astrophotographers
The ZWO ASI174MM Mini combines high sensitivity, a large sensor, compact dimensions and low weight. It is therefore equally suitable as an autoguider, planetary camera and deep-sky astronomy camera, making it a versatile solution for beginners and advanced astrophotographers.
