But if you want the best results, the StarSense Autoguider makes polar alignment much easier. Just follow the instructions on the hand controller or CPWI software, and you can fully polar-align your mount in about 5 minutes.
High‑Quality Four‑Element Optics
The StarSense Autoguider features a four-element optical design calculated by the renowned designer Mark Ackermann. Its unique configuration delivers sharper images than other mini guide scopes. The tube includes a 2″ filter thread so you can add an IR-pass filter for alignment in twilight, or a neutral density filter for daytime focusing.
The unit also contains an onboard computer and a high-sensitivity monochrome Sony IMX290LLR CMOS sensor—working together to provide exceptional tracking accuracy. You can even view the camera feed live on your PC.
Advanced Control Options
Advanced users will appreciate the ability to fine-tune their autoguider settings in CPWI. You can enable dithering to slightly shift the camera between exposures, maximizing detail during post-processing.

Compatible with Your Existing Telescope
You decide how to control the StarSense Autoguider. Choose between the NexStar+ hand controller on compatible Celestron mounts or CPWI software via cable or Wi‑Fi (using the SkyPortal WiFi module or a mount with built‑in Wi‑Fi). The autoguider also works seamlessly with other Celestron accessories.
The StarSense Autoguider is compatible with most current Celestron GoTo mounts—both alt-azimuth and equatorial. Check the table below to see if your mount is supported.
Note: For telescope kits pre‑installed with the StarSense AutoAlign module, you’ll need an additional NexStar+ hand controller to operate the StarSense Autoguider. (The StarSense Autoguider is only compatible with the NexStar+ controller—not the StarSense hand controller.)
