The Aquila Mark III is the latest version of our two-person hide tent. We've carefully considered areas for improvement, taking into account the feedback from many users and ambassadors of this mammal and bird hide. Thanks to some clever updates, the Aquila Mark III+ is now more resistant to rainfall, keeping you dry in "bad" weather, with enhanced photo and viewing windows.
The Tent Exterior
- Enhanced resilience to rain with smart updates:
- An additional "canopy" on three sides prevents rain from entering through the insect netting and better shields your lens from precipitation. In addition to rain protection, this canopy also provides shade, making the photo window and your lens less noticeable. The canopies can be folded down when not in use, reducing visibility and wind resistance.
- Longer poles reaching to the ground improve the tent's stability.
- 8 stakes: Longer and stronger than previous versions, measuring 18 cm, made from black aluminum in a triangular shape.
- (Thicker) cords on all zipper pulls eliminate disturbing noises.
- All windows can be fully closed with zippers, providing complete waterproofing.

The Tent Interior
- All windows and insect nets can also be operated from inside.
- Brighter colored ropes and "tunnels" inside make visibility easy in dark conditions.
- Instruction label included.
Photo and Viewing Windows
- All photo windows measure 40x36 cm, offering a much wider view than before. They also function as viewing windows, with adjustable size via two-way zippers.
- All windows are fully closeable with waterproof zippers, operable from both inside and outside.
- No Velcro was used, eliminating noisy closures.
- The insect netting in the windows comprises two overlapping parts with elastic bands for a secure fit around your lens.
- For increased versatility, the insect netting alternates in vertical or horizontal alignment across the windows:
- Vertical alignment offers more height range, useful for varying lens heights. The front and right-side photo windows have vertical netting.
- Horizontal alignment makes panning left and right easier, especially beneficial for videographers. The left-side windows have horizontal netting.
- Photo windows on three sides, positioned at varied heights. A panoramic window on the left side is ideal for videography.
Carry Bag
- The carry strap on the bag is now longer (and adjustable), making it easier to transport.
- A separate compartment on top of the carry bag for accessories like stakes and guide ropes.
Optional Accessories
Snoot / Lens CoverButeo Photo Gear offers an optional snoot/lens cover as a replacement for the original photo window. It adds additional weather protection and camouflage, while shielding your hands when operating the camera.
Rain Cover
An additional rain cover provides enhanced waterproofing for the roof, ideal for extended use in wet conditions. It adds a second 2,500 mm waterproof layer, fitting snugly over the existing roof with four corner hooks.
Groundsheet
The optional groundsheet is compatible with Mark III and measures 115x115 cm. Made from 0.4 mm PVC fabric, it offers a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm.
Setup Recommendations
For optimal results, visit your chosen (nature reserve) area in advance to prepare. Set up against or under vegetation when possible to blend with the surroundings. Secure the hide with the included stakes and guide ropes if necessary.
Taking Photos from the Hide
The spacious entrance features a high-quality zipper and an insect screen with the same camouflage pattern, allowing you to keep the tent discreetly open. Inside, the dark interior minimizes visibility, while color-highlighted elements like zipper cords improve usability in low light.

Definition: The Water Column of a Tent
The water column indicates the maximum water pressure that a tent fabric can withstand.
A water column of 1,500 mm means that the tent fabric can withstand the pressure
of a 1,500 mm (1.5 meter) high column of water before water penetrates the fabric.
The higher it is, the more waterproof the tent material is.
Waterproofness
The water column is also a unit of measurement to measure the watertightness e.g.
B. of technical fabrics (tents, functional and rainwear).
DIN EN ISO 811:2018
regulates the method for determining the resistance to the penetration of water.
The following “hydrostatic water pressure test” must be carried out: The outside
of the material is exposed to the water. The water pressure starts at zero, the
water column rises by 100 mmWC or 600 mmWC per minute, depending on the standard.
The time is measured until the third drop can be seen on the inside. The pressure
that is acting at this point in time is then given in millimeters of water column.
Top tents are considered waterproof from 1500 mm
and tent floors from 2000 mm according to DIN.
