CELESTRON StarSense Explorer DX 5" SCT
- Explore the night sky with your smartphone and telescope – no previous telescope experience required.
- The patented StarSense technology uses your smartphone to analyze the star patterns in the sky. It calculates the telescope's current position in real time, allowing you to identify the celestial object you are currently targeting. Check your smartphone compatibility here.
- The StarSense Explorer App automatically generates a list of currently visible celestial objects. Observe planets, bright nebulae and galaxies, star clusters, and double stars from the city. For observing faint deep-sky objects, simply take the telescope to a darker location.
- With the manual altazimuth mount and slow-motion controls on both axes, simply follow the arrows on the screen to your desired target. When the crosshairs turn green, the object is already visible in the telescope's eyepiece.
- The 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube with StarBright XLT coatings provides excellent light-gathering capability for observing a wide range of fascinating celestial objects.
- The telescope includes 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, a StarSense smartphone dock, a finderscope for using the telescope without a smartphone, an erecting prism, and a sturdy adjustable-height tripod.
Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 5" SCT – Telescope with Smartphone Guidance
The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 5" SCT combines high-quality Schmidt-Cassegrain optics with innovative smartphone technology. Thanks to the patented StarSense Explorer technology, you can find celestial objects quickly and easily – without any previous experience. This makes the 5-inch telescope ideal for beginners and amateur astronomers who want to explore the night sky with ease.
Find Celestial Objects Easily with Your Smartphone
Dock your smartphone, launch the StarSense Explorer App, and start exploring the night sky. The app analyzes star patterns and determines in real time where the telescope is pointing. A list of currently visible celestial objects helps you choose your target. Arrows on your smartphone display then guide you directly to the selected object. Once the object is in the eyepiece, the crosshairs turn green.
Patented StarSense Sky Technology
StarSense technology uses a so-called Lost-in-Space Algorithm (LISA) to match detected star patterns with an internal database. This allows the app to accurately determine the telescope's current orientation. Finding planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and double stars is therefore particularly easy and convenient.
Note: StarSense Explorer is compatible with many current smartphones. Check your smartphone compatibility here.
High-Quality 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain Optics
The compact 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope offers excellent light-gathering capability and enables detailed observations of the Moon, planets, and numerous deep-sky objects. The StarBright XLT coatings improve light transmission and contrast. Observe, for example, the cloud bands and Galilean moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the Orion Nebula, or the beautiful Pleiades open star cluster.
Stable Mount for Precise Observations
The sturdy manual altazimuth mount with slow-motion controls on both axes allows precise positioning and smooth tracking of celestial objects. The robust, adjustable-height tripod with accessory tray provides a stable foundation for observing.
Ideal for Urban and Dark-Sky Locations
The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 5" SCT is suitable for observing from light-polluted urban areas as well as for trips to darker locations. With a weight of just 4.08 kg, the telescope is easy to transport and is ideal for camping, travel, and mobile astronomical observations.
