Filters from the T-Pro series are slimmer, lighter, and feature a stable brass mount with an innovative titanium finish and MRC nano coating. The design of the new T-Pro filter line from B+W is adapted with an even slimmer profile to fit increasingly compact camera systems. The filters are suitable for all focal lengths, including wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The titanium-colored finish of the T-Pro filter line adds a special touch. Manufacturing is done to the highest standards with minimal tolerances. The base material of the filter mount is stable brass for high stability and durability. T-Pro filters feature precise glass mounting, with the filter being fixed flat and tension-free using the latest bonding technology. The special functional coating with sliding properties makes it easy to screw in and out the filter.
MRC Nano Coating
T-Pro filters are equipped with the exclusive premium coating system MRC (Multi Resistant Coating) nano. This high-end B+W broadband coating is applied on both sides, enhancing optical performance. The filters achieve uniform and increased transmission properties across the light spectrum, with minimal residual reflection (¯ 0.5%). The nano-coating on the filter glass ensures a long lifespan. Due to its enhanced scratch resistance, T-Pro filters are robust and, thanks to their dirt, water, and oil-repellent properties, are easy and quick to clean.
In addition, MRC coating improves the filter's scratch resistance and preserves optical quality. MRC is also dirt- and water-repellent, making cleaning easier.
With MRC nano, the outer layer's effect is enhanced. The property, based on nanotechnology (Lotus effect), achieves better water beading, making it even easier and faster to clean the filter surface. The hydrophobic surface reduces fogging. When transitioning from a cold to a warm environment, condensation quickly evaporates from the filter surface.
A key criterion for an excellent filter is the coating. Quality starts before the lens, where the filter is placed. A filter should not degrade the performance of an optic. MRC-coated filters have a multi-coating layer (7+1) on both sides, ensuring maximum anti-reflection and eliminating stray light. This allows for more brilliant colors and higher contrast. With the low residual reflection (0.5%), MRC effectively avoids ghost or double images caused by light reflection from the image sensor.
Filter Mounts Ð The Mechanical Experts
The important role of the filter mount and its mechanically complex task are often underestimated. Mounts should fix the high-quality filter glass "for life" without introducing sharpness-reducing tension in the glass. B+W manufactures various types of mounts, mostly from stable brass, using CNC machines. The filter glass is screwed with a highly precise screw ring, with torque control. In addition to the excellent F-Pro standard mount, suitable for telephoto lenses to wide focal lengths, B+W offers the very flat XS-Pro mount for super-wide-angle lenses. This nearly eliminates vignetting. Only high-quality mounts turn a B+W filter into a piece of high-tech that you can rely on for many years.
